Leopard 1 (Germany)

The Leopard 1 battle tank was developed by the German company Krauss-Maffei for the German Army. There have been delivered more than 6000 tanks to 9 other NATO countries like the Netherlands and Italy.

The Leopard 1 A5 is an improved version of the Leopard 1 tank.

Operators
The Leopard 1 was / is in service with some countries like:

1. Belgium
2. Brazil
3. Chile
4. Germany
5. Greece
6. Italy
7. Lebanon
8. Netherlands
9. Norway
10. Turkey
 

1. Belgium
The Belgium army has Leopard 1 A5 tanks.

2. Brazil
The Brazilian Army has bought 220 Leopard 1A5 tanks from reserve stocks of the German Army. They have been overhauled and modernized. The first tanks were delivered on October 28, 2009.

4. Germany
From 1965 till 2003, the German Army operated with Leopard 1 tanks.

6. Italy
The Italian army has Leopard 1 A5 tanks.

7. Lebanon
In 2007, Lebanon has bought 40 Leopard 1 tanks from the Belgian Army.

8. the Netherlands
The Netherlands have replaced the Leopard 1 with the Leopard 2 A5 and Leopard 2 A6. Superfluous Dutch tanks have been sold to Chili.

9. Norway
The Norway army has Leopard 1 tanks in their version as Leopard 1 A5NO.
