Olifant
(South-Africa) The Olifant Mk1A/B is the main battle tank of the army of South-Africa, equipped with a 105mm L7 canon. The olifant has been developed by the South-African company OMC engineering (now part of BAE Systems). The first version (Mk1A) came operational in 1985. An improved version - the Mk1B - came operational in 1991. The army has an inventory of 172 Olifant 1A/1B tanks. |
