The
basic SLAM missile was designed on the basic of the Harpoon missile due
to operational requirements of the US Navy. The SLAM missile was used
by the F/A-18 and A-6
during Operation Dessert Storm. In 1994, the "GO" was given
to proceed development and accelerate SLAM-ER production. The SLAM-ER
has an improved range, accuracy and warhead penetration. The SLAM-ER can be used from the F/A-18C/D, F/A-18F, P-3 Orion and S-3 Viking. The SLAM-ER is also used by the Republic Air Force of (South) Korea which uses the AGM-84L SLAM-ER from their F-15K. AGM-84 under the right wing of a US Navy F/A-18C |
