KC-46 Pegasus

The KC-46 is a new Boeing 767-based tanker airplane for the United States Air Force to replace the KC-135 Stratotanker.

On 24 Feburary 2011 the US Department of Defense (DoD) awarded Boeing an initial order for the delivery of 179 KC-46s. Competitor was EADS (now Airbus Group) who offered the A330MRTT. Since 2020, Boeing is on contract for 67KC-46 for the USAF.

Japan has ordered 2 KC-46's (2017 and 2018) and plans to bring up the total to four. In september 2019 Boeing started with the final assembly for Japan's KC-46A.
