UH-1 Huey

The UH-1 Huey is a small helicopter developed by the American company Bell for the Unites States Armed Forces. Some 15 variant have been developed from the origin UH-1 version.


Operators
More than 16.000 H-1 have been manufactured which are in service by the United States (1) and more than 45 countries where of Germany (2), Lebanon (3) and Turkey.

1. United States
The UH-1 Huey made his first flight in 1956. The UH-1 has been replaced by the UH-1N. The UH-1N is the military version of the Bell 212 helicopter.

 

2. Germany
The Germany Army has a X numbers of UH-1D helicopters. These can transport 7 soldiers or 700 kilograms of cargo.

3. Lebanon
The Air Force of Lebanon (LAF) had 2 squadrons UH-1H Helicopters operational since 1995. They can be used for transport but also armed against personnel and armored vehicles.
In 2007, Lebanon officials told that UH-1H helicopters have been updated into bombers. By updating 30-years old bombs the helicopters can be used to drop bombs with a high degree of precision.
